Four Element CSRR Loaded Antenna for Dual Band Applications

With the purpose of using it in future wireless applications, research is being conducted on a novel, miniature, CSRR-loaded co-planar waveguide (CPW)-fed antenna with a wide frequency range. The low-profile antenna consists of a rectangular CSRR-loaded radiating element with a truncated bottom. This design delivers wideband performance between 5.28 and 5.52 GHz and 6 and 7.2 GHz. The antenna has been printed on a rather typical FR4 substrate measuring
$\mathbf{7.5}\ \mathbf{mm}\ \times \mathbf{10.5}\ \mathbf{mm} \times \mathbf{1.6}\ \mathbf{mm}^{\mathbf{3}}$
in volume. Using a printed circuit board of
$\mathbf{25}\times \mathbf{25}\ \mathbf{mm}^{2}$
, the antenna described by this research is converted into a
$\mathbf{4}\times \mathbf{4}$
MIMO configuration (PCB). Each individual antenna has been decoupled by roughly 20 decibels (dB) without requiring a decoupling technique. The antenna has much increased performance for use in wireless applications, as seen by its overall gain of around 2.54 dBi and its over 89% radiation efficiency throughout the whole relevant spectral range. Due to the suggested antenna's omnidirectional emission pattern, it has the potential to be used in future wireless and cellular applications.
