Implementation of Maximum Power Point Based Stand Alone 5-MW Microgrid with Solar-Wind-Battery System

Microgrid including renewable energy sources have been used in remote areas around the world. However, intermittent energy can cause large fluctuations in the Microgrid frequency. To suppress the frequency deviation, many different frequency control strategies have been investigated. In this paper, a model of 5 MW Microgrid has been designed for power generation using PV system and wind power system and energy management is proposed. In this article, for getting maximum power output, Perturb and Observe (P & O) MPPT technique in PV solar system and Reference Torque Control MPPT technique in wind power system. A common DC link is used to deliver the generated supply to the load using RMS phase voltage control based inverter to deliver the constant supply to the linear and nonlinear load. A LC filter is used before supplying the power to the load for the mitigation of harmonics. The various results are produce on MATLAB simulink in our system. The results are obtained in the form of output of PV system, output of wind system, charging and discharging of battery, output of inverter and output after LC filter and the value of total harmonic distortion.
