Condition Assessment of Long HVDC Cables

This paper considers future methodologies to monitor and assess the condition of long HVDC cable circuits. Current technologies are reviewed, and their limitations considered before outlining an alternative approach that could ensure future long HVDC cables can be monitored along their whole length in terms of temperature, mechanical strain and potentially pd behavior, electric and magnetic fields.
