A Novel Modified P- Shaped Microstrip Antenna for 5G mm Wave Applications

In this proposed work, a modified P-shaped antenna operating at the mm-wave range for 5G applications is designed. The radiating element with wide band characteristics is achieved in five evolutionary stages. The overall antenna of footprint (17×12×0.8 mm

) is constructed using a Rogers RT Duroid 5880 that is 0.8 mm thick and has a dielectric constant of 2.2. The impedance bandwidth of 19 GHz across 26 to 45 GHz frequency has been observed. The proposed antenna has an 8.2 dB maximum gain, an 89% radiation efficiency, and a group delay below 0.4 ns. The design and analysis of the suggested antenna are done using a 3D EM simulation tool (CST Studio Suite).
