Implementation and Analysis of Wi-Fi Network slices based on 5G Network Slicing

To handle numerous services, 5G applies the capabilities of Network Function Virtualization and Software-Defined Networking and introduces a novel idea called Network Slicing. To accommodate the needs of various use cases, slicing separates a physical network into several specialized logical networks. To lower energy expenses for network operators and to better serve stoners, effective slice deployment algorithms are essential. Enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine type communications (mMTC), and ultra-reliable and low latency communications are three key use cases for 5G. Network slicing facilitates a transition from a network-as-an-infrastructure to a network-as-a-service configuration to enable a variety of 5G smart services with different requirements. By specifying several Service Set Identifiers (SSIDs) per Access Point, the MIMO implementation for the network slicing strategy for the radio access section of Wi-Fi was implemented in this study (AP). Static slicing provides resources according to the needs of slices in a stationary manner, configures the slices in line with the network's conditions and any pertinent important Key Performance Indicators. The complete simulation was conducted using ns-3 network simulator. The proposed solution enabled network slicing for current Wi-Fi radio networks and is adaptable to all types of Carrier Sensing Multiple Access (CSMA) communication and have achieved good throughput, latency, and packet error probability.
