Comparative Study Between the Sliding Mode and Backstepping Current Control of a Grid-Connected Direct Drive Wind-Pmsg System

The object of this paper is to present the efficiency of the backstepping and sliding mode control implemented in a permanent synchronous generator (PMSG) that is directly driven by a wind turbine. To compare the performance of the system using these two control methods. MATLAB/Simulink comparative analysis is performed between the proposed backstepping and sliding mode control methods to compare the performance of the system using these two control methods. The simulation results show that backstepping has a fast dynamic, improved tracking performance, and is more robust than SMC.
