Optimal Excitation Design of a 10 Mvar Superconducting Synchronous Condenser

From two perspectives, distribution of racetrack-type superconducting excitation coils and consumption of coil ends, the rotor excitation design of a 10 Mvar superconducting condenser is optimized. The optimal position of excitation coil distribution was obtained by comparison. A new description of evaluating magnetic pole leakage of superconducting excited machines with large airgap is proposed, which verified that reducing the consumption of coil ends can cut down leakage magnetic flux. Through optimization, the amount of superconducting tape can be appropriately reduced to improve economic efficiency.
