Simulation of the Stress Distribution of Cable Laid in the Bridge Offset

In order to compensate the thermal expansion and contraction of the bridge, the cable is usually laid in the bridge offset device. Therefore, it is a necessity to calculate the stress distribution of the cable laid in the bridge offset. In this paper, a simulation model of a 220 kV XLPE cable laid in offset is built, and the distribution of stress under contraction and expansion are analyzed. Results show that the most of the stress distributes at the free end of cable, and the maximum stress of each layer decreases from outer layer to inner layer. Meanwhile, the maximum stress under expansion is larger than that of contraction.
