A Permeability Model of Fractal Porous Media Composed of Arbitrary Shape Capillaries Based on Monte Carlo Simulation

The permeability plays a vital role in describing the Newtonian fluids in fractal porous media. Assuming that porous media consist of capillaries only with single cross-sectional shape doesn't concur with real situations, and most porous media in nature are tremendously complex and consist of numerous tortuous capillaries/pores with various cross-sectional shapes. This paper derives a general permeability model of porous media composed of capillaries with mixed cross-sectional shapes and compares the predicting results of permeability by the present model with those by the previous models and experiment data of previous studies. The analysis results indicate that there is an optimal cross-sectional proportion of mixed shapes for the pores/capillaries in the porous media.
