Study of Phase Algorithm for Calculating Relaxation Frequency of Biological Tissues During Electrosurgical Action

Temperature control in the area of electrosurgical action can significantly reduce the consequences of thermal damage on biological tissue (BT). Devices with temperature control which have proven themselves in related fields of medicine do not allow monitoring of a heating temperature with the necessary speed and accuracy. Previously, an algorithm was proposed for calculating the relaxation frequency of biological tissue for indirect estimation of the heating temperature of the biological tissue. However, this algorithm has a high hardware implementation complexity and many functional nodes that contribute to an error in the calculation process. This paper proposes a new phase algorithm for calculating the relaxation frequency of biological tissues. It is based on determining the phase difference between the voltage applied to biological tissues and the measured current. This algorithm is characterized by a significant reduction in hardware costs during its practical implementation. The main characteristics of the phase algorithm for calculating the relaxation frequency of biological tissues during electrosurgical action were investigated. The main factors affecting its accuracy and duration of transients were identified.
