A Novel Rectangular Groove Sine Waveguide TWT Operating at 0.34 THz

A novel slow-wave structure (SWS) named rectangular groove sine waveguide (RGSWG) is proposed for traveling-wave tube (TWT) operating at 0.34 THz in this article. The novel RGSWG is derived from the conventional SWG SWS which has the advantages of low loss, natural sheet beam tunnel and easy fabrication. RGSWG SWS has higher interaction impedance than conventional SWG SWS under the condition of consistent normalized phase velocity. The slow-wave characteristics of RGSWG and beam-wave interaction results of RGSWG TWT have been investigated. In the frequency range of 0.332 - 0.36 THz, the output power is greater than 5 W, and the maximum output power is 10 W at 0.344 THz.
