Non-adiabatic electron optic systems for high power and medium power gyrotrons

The principle of operation of the new non adiabatic electron guns forming helical electron beams (HEBs) for gyrotrons is described. The simple analytic formulas for preliminary estimations of the main electron optic system parameters are derived. Two examples of the non-adiabatic systems aimed to use in CW gyrotrons with operating frequency 24 GHz, power about tens kW and another one with a frequency 230 GHz, power about 1 MW are optimized and described. The efficiency of gyrotron operation is investigated.
