Analysis of Self-esteem on Students' Performance in Online Programming Competition

This paper will look at the effect of self-esteem on students' performance in online programming competitions. The competition was conducted in a hackerrank platform with 4 rounds in total. On each round, there was a set of general questions such as age, gender, etc., but also self-esteem related questions to evaluate how much self-esteem a person has. Correlation between self-esteem and results of each round on average was calculated. The average obtained correlation was around -0.11. Based on the results, the conclusion was that the correlation is slightly low and negative which claims that too high self-esteem can result in low results in online programming competitions across students.
