Safety Analysis and Test of a New 24 Pulse Transformer Rectifier

A 24-pulse transformer rectifier of multi-electric aircraft design method based on a small-capacity half bridge auxiliary circuit, 12 pulse transformer and 2 sets of rectifier bridge is proposed. The half bridge auxiliary circuit is used to inject the voltage ripple into the 12-pulse DC voltage bus to realize the 24-pulse output, which simplifies the transformer structure, lights the transformer weight and decreases the number of rectifier bridges. The working modes of this topology and the formula of input and output are analyzed. The auxiliary circuit and optimal turns ratio of auxiliary transform is designed and prototype test is carried out. The prediction method of the airborne TRU failure rate is studied and the compare of the new TRU and the ordinary 24-pulse TRU is conducted in the typical temperature of 55℃. The results show that the TRU designed in this paper simplifies the structure, lights the weight and owns higher input-output performance and lower failure rate.
