Impact of the Current Setup on the Synchronization Stability in a Different R/X Ratio Scenarios Referring to the grid code

The loss of the synchronization stability is one of the main issues for the grid-following converter (GFL) in the modern power system even a fault ride through operation is satisfied. Referring to the Chinese grid code, based on the phase portrait method, this paper investigates the effect of the GFL operation, i.e. current setup, on the synchronization stability in a different grid state, i.e. different R/X ration. A Matlab/Simulink simulation serves to verify that a reactive power compensation in a mild grid fault can enlarge the stability boundary while a proper active power grid injection in a sever grid fault is promoted.
