Method and Application of Aging with Gradient Fields for Flake XLPE Samples

Method of applying gradient thermal-electrical field for aging flake XLPE samples is discussed. Comparing with constant temperature methods, by gradient field method, aging phenomena continuously vary along the sample surface from center of the fields, which helps unveiling critical results for further aging character test. The electrical load can function stably for 8 hours without corona at voltage of 10.8 kV, and the thermal load can be raised to $135.6{}^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$ within 15 minutes, with the temperature difference between edge and center of the sample surface above $31.4{}^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$.
