Dynamic Model of AC Commutator Motor with Due Regard for the Influence of Saturation and Magnetic Lag Angle

Alternating current commutator motors are still widely used to drive power tools and in the traction electric drive. This is due to the relatively low laboriousness of their manufacture and good mass-dimensional indicators. Therefore, the problem of design optimization of AC commutator motors remains very relevant. Pre-design inspection and subsequent evaluation of the energy and dynamic characteristics of the designed motors are impossible without adequate mathematical models. In this article, in order to improve the accuracy of the mathematical model of an AC commutator motor, it is proposed to introduce into the system of differential equations an account of the magnetic lag angle caused by magnetic core iron losses and switched sections losses. It is also proposed to take into account the effect of saturation of the magnetic system on mutual inductances and magnetic flux in the air gap by approximating the magnetization characteristics by linear dependence and the arctangent function. Based on the described model, a program was developed and modelling of transients was performed when starting an AC commutator motor to drive a grinding machine. The simulation results demonstrate good convergence with the experimental data.
