Analysis of Power Market Operation in An East China Province

With the development of electricity market reform, electricity producers are more likely to use market power to obtain excess returns, meanwhile the market power may be used by tacit alliance behavior among power producers. Considering such phenomenon, this paper first calculated the revenue of each power producer participating in the provincial power market based on the actual operation data of the power market in a province in east China. Secondly, 3 scenarios are set up to analyze and filter the power market operation data of the province in conjunction with the actual power generation companies in the province. Then, the company’s overall revenue and the highest earning rate within the company are calculated under the 3 scenarios respectively, so as to filter the typical data. Finally, the possibility of collusion within the company and the impact of collusion on the market are analyzed to provide some reference for the identification and mitigation of market power in the power spot market with single-side bidding by power producers.
