Investigation on the Performance Analysis of Single Slope Solar Still with Multi-Shaped Cotton Cloth Porous Floating Absorber

The performance of a solar still (SS) with a single slope was enhanced by floating wick (FW) material of variant shapes in the basin. Absorbent wicks made of porous cotton cloth are suspended in a basin on a bed of thermocol. Three different absorber geometries are examined for the three different types of Modified Solar Stills (MSS). MS S-F (Flat teeth), MSS-T (Triangular teeth), and MSS-S (Semi-circular teeth) absorber surfaces are composed of FW layers. In comparison to the Conventional Solar Still (CS S), these modified designs demonstrate considerable efficiency and performance increases. Using a theoretical technique, the efficiency of these solar stills was calculated. Throughout the majority of the working hours, all MSS experiments yield more freshwater than the CSS experiment. The MSS-S experiment has the maximum daily yield equated to the other modified stills, and it increases daily yield by 65% related to the CSS experiment.
