Analyzing the Fuel Economy of Hybrid Electric Vehicle for Different Road and Traffic Conditions

In this paper, hybrid electric vehicle model is tested with different standard driving cycles and respective fuel economy calculations are performed. Afterwards, real life driving cycles are formed and analyzed for different roadways like urban, state highway and expressway. Traffic conditions are also noted and a classification is established for different roadways. The hybrid electric vehicle model is tested again with the real-life driving cycles and respective fuel economy parameters are evaluated. A comparison is made between the outputs obtained from the model with standard and real-life driving cycles as input at different instant of time. The entire work is performed using MATLAB/Simulink software.
