Detection and Remediation of Internal Resonance Problems in Integral Equations

In this paper we demonstrate that residual error estimators can be used to detect internal resonance problems arising from the electric and magnetic field integral equations for perfectly conducting targets. In addition, a new approach to constructing a “combined” field equation is introduced. When solved, the resulting over-determined system produces a different type of residual that yields insight into the solution accuracy.
