Fault Analysis and Security of Direct Current Deficiency of Modular Multilevel Converter System

This study investigates the modular staggered converter system of the DC architecture. The AC framework of modular multilevel inverter (MMC) is connected to the bipolar DC framework. In MMC, three identically linked stage units are utilized. A stage unit consists of two arms, which are all organized into the same submodule pattern. MMCs are the ideal option for building effective DC conveyance and transmission frameworks because of their advantages such as lower exchanging losses, less overall consonant contortion, and isolated structure, among others. The primary elements of each submodule are two thyristors, two free-rotating diodes, and a capacitor. The MMC uses the conventional switching technique to operate. The core contributions in this paper are that the fault current can be located to the IGBT based converter by the output current using carrier shift PWM approach.
