Design Of Zeta Converter For HEV

The paper proposes a DC-DC power converter for a HEV based on Zeta converter. It is used to connect the HV battery to the LV battery in the traction unit of a car for supplying power to accessories. This converter has merits such as the properties of both buck and boost converters (means it can act as step up/ step down converter), simple design, high voltage gain, low ripple, better feedback control and increased efficiency compared to that of the conventional converters in existence. The control is given by a PID controller that has been tuned using Ziegler Nichol’s tuning technique. The model is validated with MATLAB Simulink tool.
