Development of a Microcontroller-based Accident Detector with Morse Code Transmitter

Accidents can cause serious injury when not acted upon in a timely manner. This paper aims to send timely alerts through the use of a simple buzzer sending GPS coordinates. This system uses the PIC16F877A microcontroller, a piezoelectric sensor, and a GPS module. When the piezoelectric sensor detects a dangerous impact, the GPS module gets the coordinates, and the buzzer transmits the location to alert people within the vicinity of the victim quickly. The buzzer can also be placed in a different area which can also alert people to the accident by sending them the GPS coordinates. An LCD would also display this information for those who don't understand morse code. This would aid first responders in determining how they should best aid the user.
