On Improved Performance of Underwater VLC System

Underwater wireless communication (UWC) is essential for remote exploration and monitoring of different underwater environments. However UWC is an extremely challenging affair due to the heavy loss associated with water. The emerging underwater visible light communication (UVLC) is recently being explored for data communication in underwater environment. Absorption and scattering are the major challenges in developing UVLC system in the water medium. The present work proposes a system to improve the reception of the optical signal. The introduced band pass filter (BPF) in the proposed system gives improved performance. Comparison of the performance of the proposed system with existing literature has also been done. The proposed system model and the simulation results of the improved system performance is presented in the paper. An improved gain of at least ~ 5dB over the existing systems is obtained.
