Sizing Residential Photovoltaic Systems in Different Climate Regions in the US

Recent years, there is a massive growth in residential solar power generation in the US. However, the implementation of Photovoltaic systems in houses varies according to states' different climate zones. The aim of this work is obtaining the ideal sizing of residential PV systems in three different climate regions in the US. Alaska, California, and Indiana are the three states that have been chosen for this purpose. Artificial Neural Network model has been especially designed using optimum layers' number with appropriate neurons per layer. It has been implemented in three different climate regions based on their regular energy consumption input solar energy per day. The main outputs for the proposed model are PV installation area, peak power capacity, modules number, as well as storage capacity and Ampere Hour of the battery. For more simplicity, Simulink models have been created. Moreover, the offered model has been trained, simulated, and validated with finest accuracy.
