Magnetizing Curve Identification of Induction Motor for Drive Application Considering the Inverter Nonlinearity

This paper proposes a simple technique to identify the magnetizing curve of the induction motor with considering the inverter nonlinearity. In the proposed method, the current controller is removed, and the reference voltage is directly applied to the inverter with different duty cycles. The stator resistance and leakage inductances are precisely recognized before the magnetizing inductance identification. The effect of the inverter nonlinearity containing dead time effect, conducting loss of the power switches, and the turn-on and turn-off times of the switches are taken into account in the proposed technique. The evaluation of the proposed method is done with a DSP-based experimental setup and a 3 kW induction motor.
