Power Loss Reduction Using SOS Algorithm in SEPIC LED Drive

Today, LED lamps are widely used due to their low power consumption as well as long life and good light quality. The most important part of these LED lamps are their drives. In LED drivers having a high efficiency is one of the most important desires because, the optimum design of the low current and voltage electronic components, means a decrease in the power losses in the power converter. SEPIC converters are one the common converters used in the field of LED drivers. In this paper a method to reduce the losses in SEPIC converter which uses as LEDs drives is presented. Metaheuristic algorithm are widely used for optimization nowadays. One of the best metaheuristic algorithms is Symbiotic Organisms Search Algorithm (SOS) which is based on the animal’s interactions. This algorithm is used in this paper to reduce the power losses. Simulation results shows the effectiveness of the proposed method.
