Influence of nonlinear load on the measurement of harmonic impedance of the power supply system

The influence of a nonlinear electrical load on the determination of the harmonic impedance of the energy system is considered in this paper. A method is proposed for determining the harmonic impedance of energy system based on the use of a nonlinear load, particularly, a thyristor power controller. Based on experimental laboratory studies, it is shown that the harmonic impedance of the energy system largely depends on the parameters of semiconductor converters. First of all, this applies to low-voltage loads that have a capacitive element in the DC link. Recommendations are presented for minimizing the influence of the consumer's nonlinear load when determining the harmonic impedance of the energy system.
