Design & Analysis of PV Interface Hybrid Two-Stage Transformerless Inverter

Transformerless inverters are fetching more dominance for grid-connected solar usage due to their simplicity, decreased size, weight, cost, and improved efficiency. This conference reports a two-stage transformerless single-phase grid-connected inverter design. The suggested architecture has two parts that include the front-end DC-DC converter using a switched capacitor unit followed by a conventional boost network to give a quadruple voltage boost. The second part comprises a cascaded H-bridge topology. The proposed architecture has advantages like the reduced requirement for a DC link, lesser components that enhance the reliability and robustness of the system along with reactive power capability. The simulation for complete topology is carried out in the Simulink environment. Lastly, an effective comparison is carried out with the existing two-stage inverter topologies.
