Performance of OWC Device in Random Ocean Waves

The present study investigated the hydrodynamics of OWC ("Oscillating water column") device place over the uniform seafloor employing the CFD tool in ANSYS Fluent software. A piston-type wavemaker is implemented to produce the incident irregular waves associated with the Bretschneider spectrum. Further, VOF ("volume of fluid") approach is used to logged the free surface elevation. In addition, free surface elevation, vertex average y-velocity and vertex average dynamic pressure are analyzed in a detailed manner. The results show that the present OWC device can extract wave power steadily over a long period of time.
