V/F Controlled Three-phase Two-level Inverter Fed PMSM Drives for Wide Speed Range Applications

The V/F control provides the advantage of starting the motor at a low speed and increasing the speed slowly up to the rated speed. The purpose of this work is to present the use of V/F-controlled three-phase two-level PMSM drives capable of operating at a wide range of speeds. A simple duty ratio-controlled V/F where both the magnitude and frequency of the modulating signal were varied as a function of duty ratio was proposed and implemented in Matlab 2021b. From the simulation results, it was seen that the method was effective over a wide speed range. The verification of the proposed scheme is done using Opal-RT (OP4500).
