Design and Analysis of Two-Stage Interleaved Boost Converter for EV Battery Charging Using Hybrid Power Sources

This work presents a novel technique to charge EV Li-ion battery using hybrid power sources. Solar energy in combination with dc power is utilized to charge EV Battery. A dc-dc power converter is designed so as to ensure operation of PV array at Maximum Power Point. The main objective is to utilize PV panel to maximum extent while the dc source acts as stand-by, supplying the energy difference between the PV panel and the battery. The converter is modeled using state space analysis and verified for operational stability. The capability of the technique to charge EV batteries of different sizes is verified using MATLAB/Simulink.
