Multi-physical Field Simulation of Nonlinear High-Voltage Ceramic Capacitor Based on COMSOL

A nonlinear high-voltage ceramic capacitor is developed as the damping capacitor of the new damped DC circuit breaker to maximize its benefits. COMSOL Multiphysics finite element simulation software is used to numerically simulate the electric-thermal-force coupling characteristics of the circuit breaker, and the 250/2500μs standard operating surge voltage waveform is used to simulate the breaker breaking process. The electric field distribution, temperature distribution, electrostriction stress distribution and displacement deformation distribution of nonlinear high-voltage ceramic capacitors are investigated. The effects of electric field, temperature field, and stress field on the failure characteristics of nonlinear high-voltage ceramic capacitors are investigated.
