Secure Embedded Information Radar and Communication Co-design: Ultrawideband FDA Beamspace Approach

In directional radar-embedded communications technique, the embedded message for communication process is transmitted along the intended user(s) positioned in a particular location while it is difficult for eavesdropper(s) to intercept the transmitted message. This paper proposes range and angle ultrawideband frequency diverse array (UWB FDA) beamspace for radar and communication co-desgn. Herein, pulsed waveform is designed to implement the radar function (i.e., primary). For communication technique (i.e., secondary), frequency offsets is designed by exploiting Costas coding sequence (CCS) embedded with message as part of the transmitted steering vector. By so doing, the communication user(s) can decode the useful message with a prior knowledge of CCS. The proposed scheme has the attributes of low probability of detection and interception. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme was validated with numerical simulations.
