Performance of Absorbing Periodic Structures with Spherical Magneto-Dielectric Black Holes Arranged on a Substrate with a PEC Screen

A problem of plane wave scattering by planar doubly periodic structures formed by absorbing inhomogeneous spherical magneto-dielectric elements of electromagnetic black-hole type arranged on a homogeneous absorbing magneto-dielectric substrate of finite thickness with a PEC screen is considered. The problem is solved by the hybrid projection method. New expressions for calculation of power absorbed in the elements and substrate are derived. Some results characterizing absorption efficiency of the structure at various parameters of the elements and substrate are presented. Performance of the structure with black holes is compared to appropriate performance of known absorbing structures formed by conventional pyramidal elements.
