Planning and monitoring of smart grid Architecture using Internet of Things

Conventional grid is in a transformation phase towards smart grid (SG) to mitigate the issues of the present grid system. The conventional grid has a number of difficulties, such as one-way information and power flow, energy wastage, lack of system control, rising energy consumption, reliability, and security. Bi-directional information and control are made possible by SGs. SGs comprises of system monitoring, analysis, and control components. Internet of things (IoT) has emerged as a crucial element of SG to help with device integration. The Internet of Things (IoT) supports many functions in the generation, transmission, and distribution of energy by automating and tracking the system. SGs are made up of numerous IoT components, including sensors, smart meters, and actuators. This study offers a thorough analysis of IoT-enabled SGs, including a framework for the smart grid and its features. The survey aims to provide details on various SG components and their IoT connectivity. Challenges in the IoT use of SGs have also been explored in order to provide insight into potential research directions.
