Design of Biosensor using 1D Photonic Crystal for Dengue Virus Detection

Biosensors are very much useful for the detection of human diseases. In this work a biosensor design has been proposed for detecting dengue virus using 1 D photonic crystal. The proposed design comprises Si with LiF and MgF materials. Refractive index D of the materials, which is a function of hemoglobin, platelets, and plasma of the infected blood sample. Refractive index variations affect the transmission peak in blood sample. Transfer Matrix Method is being used to evaluate the performance of the proposed structure. Sensitivity, Q-factor and transmittance has been analyzed. In this work, sensitivity have been found to be 300 nm/RIU, which is 50 percent higher than the reported results.
