Design of a Conformal On-Glass Antenna for Vehicle Communication

In this paper, a conformal antenna based on the glass substrate is proposed. The antenna is composed of a slot antenna and four parasitic patches. The patches are truncated to achieve polarization transformation. The proposed antenna is a planar construction and has two conducting layers without any via holes, which makes it suitable integration with the vehicle windshield. The antenna can operate in a wide frequency range from 5GHz to 6.75GHz with S11 less than −10dB, while achieve a right hand circular polarized radiation from 5.6GHz to 6GHz with the axial ratio less than 3dB, indicating a 29.8% impedance bandwidth and a 7.9
