No Vias Mode-Selective Transmission Line

This work proposes a novel no vias mode selectivity transmission line (NV-MSTL). A metallic ground plane with periodic mete-surface edge replaces metal sidewall vias, operating frequency band DC-100GHz, reducing processing difficulty. The NV-MSTL is a multi-conductor transmission line that transmits the TEM mode of a coplanar waveguide (CPW) at low frequencies and the TE

mode of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) at high frequencies. For NV-MSTL, the tapered transition structure is designed and optimized to achieve broadband transmission. The simulated results show that the| S11| is less than −10dB, and the total| S

| is about −2.8dB covering DC to 100 GHz, where the total length is 56.2mm.
