Dual Band Centralized Resource Coordination Method of Wireless Communication

The Device-to-device (D2D) technology in millimeter wave (mmWave) band is a hopeful solution for spectrum efficiency in future wireless communication system, however, D2D faces the challenge of high signalling cost of link setup. In this paper, we mainly study a small cell with a base station (BS) served as an mmWave decode-and-forward relay for dual-mode user equipments (UEs). To reduce the cost of mmWave D2D link establishment and improve the network throughput, we provide a BS-assisted dual bands muti-mode resource coordination protocol, which makes full usage of the mmWave angular domain information and the received signal strength of the sub-6 GHz signaling channel from the UEs to the BS. Simulation shows that our protocol can reduce the beam training cost and neighbor discovery (ND) consumption without increasing the system design complexity, and further improve network throughput by assigning reasonable communication modes.
