Low Loss, High Linearity Switches for Wideband Applications

Switched filter banks are often a size, cost, and performance limiter for many systems. Improved RF performance, as systems move to a more digital platform, is becoming ever more critical. As needs for lower insertion loss and higher RF performance increase, the size requirement is becoming more challenging, placing the design at odds. As systems require more a wider frequency, more switch throws are necessary, resulting in more loss. In many systems, SLCFET’s lower loss relative to other technologies can help compensate for this. One specific design demonstrates that the SLCFET SP8T shows on average > 1 dB improvement in insertion loss, with at least 4x the isolation, and with 2-3x the upper frequency range than offered by other FET switch technologies.
