Fast Charging Technique for Grid Connected Electric Vehicle using DAB Converter

The fast-charging technique of grid connected Electric Vehicle (EV) is proposed in this paper by using bi-directional Dual Active Bridge (DAB) DC-DC converter topology. This converter is efficient, cost effective and allows bidirectional current flow by means of soft switching with reduced number of switches. The Simulink model is developed for the proposed system with the grid voltage of 325V and the active power of the grid is controlled. The time taken to charge is less than 30 minutes by using this technique and the overall system is reliable and cost effective. The hardware is developed for the DAB converter with the input voltage of 10V and the output voltage is boosted to 167V.
