Active Damping Control of Start-up Process for Hybrid Vehicle

In order to reduce fuel consumption, hybrid vehicles need to start and stop the engine more frequently. According to previous researches, NVH problem need more attention under this circumstance. This paper develops an active damping control strategy, which using the integrated start generator (ISG) motor to generate special torque and make the output torque smoother to achieve a better start-up process. Firstly, a hybrid power system model is established to help develop the control strategy and investigate the influence of initial crank angle on the start-up process. Secondly, experiments have been done to evaluate the speed performance and the energy consumption of active damping control at different initial crank angle. Experimental results show that the start-up time can be reduced about 59.1% from 2.16 s to 1.09 s at most and the electric energy consumption can be reduced about 27.5
