Two Element Polarization Diverse MIMO Antenna with Modifed Ground Structure

A two-element multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO)antenna of size 36
$\times 46.1$
mm with polarization diversity for sub 6GHz application is proposed in this paper. The single antenna operating at 3.5 G Hz frequency consists of a triangular patch antenna. A modified fractal structure is employed in the ground to produce circular polarization.An impedance bandwidth of 9.5% is obtained from 3.39 GHz to 3.73 GHz, while the 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth of 1.1% is from 3.48 GHz to 3.52 GHz. The antenna exhibits a tilted directional radiation pattern with 3.49 dBi gain and 75% efficiency. Two element MIMO antenna with a circular polarization diversity arrangement is designed with a distance of approximately 1.35 mm. The isolation obtained between two antennas is more than 14 dB. Envelope Correlation Coefficient (ECC) is well below 0.005 with a Diversity Gain value close to 10dB. The antenna has application in a 5G sub 6 GHz band and wireless communication.
