Effect of Pulse Width on Various Performance Parameters of UWB Antenna in Time Domain Analysis

The paper highlights the effect of various pulse width of monocycle pulses from a signal source of UWB antenna on time domain parameters and its importance for selecting a suitable pulse width for far field communication of UWB antenna. The effect of different pulse widths on antenna parameters like the reflection coefficient, group delay, transfer function and power spectral density are analyzed for a star shaped printed UWB antenna which operates from 6.5 to 10 GHz with 48% impedance bandwidth (
$\mathbf{S}_{\mathbf{11}} < -\mathbf{10}\ \mathbf{dB}$
). For the mentioned antenna the monocycle pulse with pulse width 150ps and 200ps provide suitable performance.
