iDDS 2.0: An IoT-enabled Energy Efficient and Fast Drug Delivery System for Epilepsy

The development of wearable or implantable treatments for epilepsy is currently the focus of a sizeable portion of biomedical research. In this paper, an Inter of Things (IoT) enabled synchronous seizure control system has been presented. The proposed system is composed of three parts: a seizure detecting device, a drug delivery unit, and an IoT unit. A high-performance pulse exclusion mechanism (PEM) and a machine learning classifier analyze brain signals and identify the occurrence of a seizure. An electromagnetically actuated double reservoir micropump (EADRM) supplies drugs into the targeted area. The IoT unit allows patients' data to be transmitted and accessed from anywhere. The system was validated using Simulink and the finding shows that proposed solution significantly lowers latency and power consumption and advances consumer electronics by contributing to the smart healthcare system.
