A Compact Flexible Two-Port Textile Antenna

The design and testing of a two-port textile antenna that operates from 3.39 to 4.42 GHz is discussed in this paper. The antenna is made on a jeans substrate and the ground plane is modified which results in good port-to-port isolation. The antenna was fabricated and overall the measured and simulated S parameters are in agreement. Measuring the S parameters were challenging due to the flexible nature of the jeans substrate. This is the probable reason for the frequency shifts that were observed in the S parameters. However good port isolation was observed in the design. The design being low profile and having good isolation between the two ports, is suitable for medical and defence applications and for communication technologies where multiple isolated ports are required (e.g. MIMO).
