Localization of the Sensor Nodes in Precision Agriculture using a Hybrid Model

Localization has become a major attraction for researchers in the last few decades in the domain of wireless sensor networks. It is necessary for a variety of surveillance applications like fire, and flood detection to locate the exact spot of the event. The purpose of this study was to address the problem of the localization of sensor nodes on the agricultural land of India. This study focuses on bumpy agricultural land, to find out the precise location of a sensor node to help farmers and society. The authors have proposed a hybrid model based on the relative signal strength (RSS) scheme to find out the precise location of sensor nodes in the flat as well as the bumpy field. Based on testbed deployment and simulation results our method is 7.3 % better than previous work that has been done to find out event spots.
