CIoTAS-TA Protocol: CloudIoT Available Services-based Time Aware Protocol

Time awareness in a collaborative IoT environment is very desirable to increase the efficiency and functioning of the IoT system, especially if autonomic behavior was integrated to enhance the thing’s self-configuration ability and improve self-awareness. Synchronization is needed to deliver the correct service. The latter follows the related context within, which requires other solutions to be more contextualized. In fact, the CIoTAS protocol introduces the autonomic behavior into the Cloud of Things paradigm to help the system recover from abnormal situations. In this paper, we extended the CIoTAS protocol to synchronize contextual events and add additional time awareness to attain correctly functioning clocks. Two Lamport algorithms are used in the discovery phase to adjust the clock and order the classified protocol events. The proposed synchronization solution is given as an initial solution for the Cloud-IoT platform’s integration.
